Classification Training
As part of a Cadet’s development, training is provided in a number of areas which you will work through one level at a time. These consist of: First Class Cadet, Leading Cadet, Senior Cadet and Master Air Cadet. Once all levels are achieved, ultimately you are then eligible for a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Air Cadet Aviation Studies.
The training covers a number of subjects, such as aviation, navigation, propulsion, etc with more depth as you progress.
At each Classification level, you will earn a corresponding badge to display on your brassard along with a certificate to keep in your record of achievement folder alongside school and perhaps other external awards you may have achieved.

First Class Cadet
- Drill
- History of the ATC
- History of the RAF
- Basic Principles of Airmanship
- Map Reading
- Basic Radio Communications
- Initial Expedition Training
Leading Cadet
- Principles of Flight
- Airmanship 1
- Basic Navigation with Map and Compass
Senior Cadet and Master Air Cadet
(Cadets will complete 3 of the following subjects to complete Senior, and a separate further 3 of the following subjects for Master Air Cadet. You also need to be a minimum of 15 years old to achieve your Master Air Cadet.)
