Flying & Gliding
Flying and Gliding as you would probably expect is on of our most popular activities and one that’s most asked about.
The Air Cadets offers Gliding experiences in a Viking Aircraft which not only do you get to fly in one, you work as a team in assisting launching the Gliders for your fellow Cadets.
We also offer flights in a powered training Aircraft, the Grob Tutor, which is a side by side 2 seater Aircraft where you can either admire the view, get stuck in to learning how the controls work and even have a go, to experiencing aerobatics! Sometimes even the Staff get to have a go!
Both areas offer Scholarships to learn to fly Solo. These are available to apply as the Cadet gets a bit older and more experienced and can commit to such a course.
You may find that some Cadets can fly a plane before they have learnt to drive a car!
Occasionally there are also opportunities to experience flights on other Military Aircraft, perhaps when away on Camps or at Air Shows for example.
